While we would all love a wardrobe full of Gucci and Dior, there are plenty of ways to make your high street wardrobe look more luxury and elevate your current collection.
Find Your Style
With
numerous different styles and looks appearing on the catwalk these days, its
important to find your own style and wear something you love with confidence.
Once you know what you like, you can shop around for pieces inspired by your
favourite catwalk.
Invest in Classic Pieces
I
will always invest in classic pieces and spend more on styles and items that
won’t go out of fashion. Focus on purchasing coats
that are forever such as a classic camel, a navy pea and the ever fashionable
belted trench. Collect them all and you’ll
never find yourself with nothing to wear.
These items don’t have to be high end designer; premium high street brands such
as Reiss, Karen Millen, Marks and Spencer all offer luxury pieces for less yet
the quality is still there.
Forgo the trends each season and find dupes for those pieces
that will go out of fashion quicker such as these Gucci inspired loafers or this
top with major Self-Portrait Vibes.
Tailoring
As a rule, tailored pieces look more expensive, a quick nip and
tuck can add £££ to any outfit. Make sure the piece has the correct hem and
ensure it’s freshly pressed
before you wear. Taking the extra five minutes to steam or press your look will
add instant polish and make you feel put together and chic.
Add Accessories
Think
Olivia Palmero and Victoria Beckham. Add a pair of sunglasses and some
structural gold jewelry to finish off your look. Additionally,
choose metals that have some weight to them instead of ones that look and feel
flimsy.Clean Cuts
Keep
it clean and go for simple designs. Mango and Zara are my go to for everyday
work tops and trousers. Prints are the easiest way
to make an outfit tired. What you love one season will make you dated the next.
Stick to solid more neutral colours.
Silk Scarves
Make
any outfit look expensive and sophisticated. Tie them around your hair,
handbag, neck or wrist for a Parisian vibe or pair with a tailored outfit for
that just off the catwalk look.
All Black/ Tonal Colours
Not only is it incredibly elongating, but a monochrome outfit
always looks intentional and put together. Just make sure your whites are
bright and your blacks match.
Good Underwear
Invest in smart, supportive underwear. A lace bra looks great
under a sheer top but a visible pant line will not do anything for your outfit.
Beauty matters
Polished hair and makeup elevate any
look. Keep your nails clean and painted and add a spritz of your favourite
perfume. And if all else fails, finish with a bold
red lip!
